Lionel established CDIB Capital in its present form in 2006. He is based in Hong Kong and is primarily responsible for CDIB Capital overall strategy, day-to-day operations and leading investments in the “China-US” vertical.

Prior to CDIB Capital, Lionel was a senior banker in the investment banking division of Lehman Brothers based in New York and London. During his investment banking career, Lionel worked on more than US$45 billion of public and private transactions in Mergers & Acquisitions as well as Equity and Debt Capital Markets. During those years, he advised leading private equity firms across a variety of leveraged buyouts, trade sales and IPO transactions. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Lionel was a member of the Global Mergers & Acquisitions practice of Booz-Allen & Hamilton.

Lionel sits on the Board of Directors of a number of the Group’s subsidiaries as well as some of the Group’s portfolio companies. He is also a trustee of the Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation.

Lionel holds an MBA with Distinctions from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and a BS in Finance & Entrepreneurship from France’s HEC School of Management.

Paul is a Senior Advisor to CDIB Capital as well as a non-executive board member of CDIB and CDF. He is a Partner and CEO of Greater China for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (“KKR”). Prior to KKR, Paul was President and CEO of CDF.  Prior to CDF, Paul served as Managing Director at Development Bank of Singapore where he was responsible for DBS Bank’s private equity business across Asia. Prior to DBS, Paul was Managing Director of ICG Asia Ltd. Prior to that, he was with the Principal Investment Area of Goldman, Sachs & Co. based in New York and Hong Kong. Paul also served at General Atlantic Partners and at the Boston Consulting Group.

Paul is a Governor of the China Venture Capital Association ("CVCA").

Paul holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and MS and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

HY is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital and leads operations in Korea. He is based in Seoul and is primarily responsible for leading investments in the "China-Korea" vertical. Prior to CDIB Capital, HY was Director of Direct Investments at PAMA Group Inc., a leading private equity firm with a focus on middle market buyout/expansion capital transactions in Asia. Prior to PAMA, he was a Director at Asian Capital Partners Group as well as Citigroup, responsible for the origination and execution of investments, capital markets, corporate advisory and M&A transactions in Asia.

HY holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Political Science & International Relations from Yonsei University.

Victor is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital and is primarily responsible for sourcing investments in China and execution of these investments. In addition, Victor spearheads the operational value-add and supports the operations of China-based portfolio companies. 

Prior to CDIB Capital, Victor was a Managing Director and Head of China of Greater Pacific Capital, a leading private equity firm focused on China and India. Prior to this, he was a Managing Director of Sun Capital Partners and Chairman and President of its China operations. Victor also served as Chairman and President of Eaton (China) Investment Corp. for Eaton Corporation, he was responsible for M&A operations in the Asia Pacific region. He has held various leadership positions such as Finance Director and Corporate Treasurer for both General Motors and Delphi in China and the US. He also served as CFO and Board Member of UTStarcom China, a NASDAQ-listed telecom company.

Victor started his career at the Chinese central government, as project manager at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in Beijing, before moving to an on-job leadership training position at Giant Food Corporation, a Washington D.C. based major supermarket chain in the late 80’s.

Victor sits on the Boards of Smith-Cooper International and Meilele Inc.

Victor holds an MBA and an MS in Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Harbin University of Commerce.

Hamilton Tang is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital. Prior to joining he served as the group Chief Executive Officer of Simon Murray & Company and Managing Partner of SMC Capital China (“SMC”), a Greater China focused investment management firm in private equity, long only funds, hedge funds, fixed income, and other direct investments. Prior to that, his background includes appointments as co-CEO of UA Cinema (Hong Kong) and Vice President at Morgan Stanley investment banking division in New York and Hong Kong.  He received a JD-MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, and an undergraduate degree from Harvard College.

Steven is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital and focuses on sourcing, underwriting and portfolio management of investments in the "China-Taiwan" vertical. Prior to CDIB Capital, Steven served as Senior Vice President at China Venture Management, an investing affiliate of CDF. Prior to CDF, Steven was Senior Vice President at WI Harper (Taipei) and oversaw deal sourcing, investment evaluation, and portfolio management. Before joining WI Harper, he was Vice President of the Investment Department at Central Investment Holding Company, the largest investment holding company of the KMT Business Management Committee. Prior to that, he was a Senior Consultant in the corporate finance division of Arthur Andersen and Investment Manager of the Pacific Capital Fund Management Company. He also sits on the board of directors or serves as observer for several Taiwan and PRC potfolio companies, including Jiangyin Tongli, Dong Jin and Jiangyin Suda Huicheng).

Melanie is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital. She is primarily responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance aspects and structuring of the Fund’s investments, in addition to other operational and administrative responsibilities. Prior to joining CDIB Capital, Melanie was the general counsel for the CDF group and before that Senior Attorney at Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law; where she had led or worked on numerous cross-border investments as well as high profile mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, privatization and international litigation/arbitration. Melanie is licensed to practice law in the State of California, USA and in Taiwan, and is a certified patent analyst and biotech industry management professional (Level 1) in Taiwan.

Melanie is currently the Committee Secretary for Corporate Social Responsibilities under the Board of Directors of CDF, spearheading several group-wide ESG projects. She sits on the board of the Foundation for Yunus Social Business, Taiwan.

Melanie holds an MSc. of Global Finance from the NYU Stern - Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, an LLM from Soochow University, and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College.

Neville is a Senior Vice President in CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office. He is responsible for CDIB Capital's finance, operations and administration functions. Prior to CDIB Capital, Neville served as the Chief Financial Officer of Apollo Global Real Estate, Asia Pacific, and before that the Chief Financial Officer/Controller of Carlyle Asia Leveraged Finance. Before joining Carlyle, Neville was the Financial Controller of Citadel Asset Management and of KBC Financial Products, based in Hong Kong. He started his career in the Financial Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

Neville holds an MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA).

Stephen is a Senior Vice President in CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office. He focuses on sourcing, underwriting and portfolio management of investments in the "China-Korea" vertical. Prior to CDIB Capital, Stephen was with Arctic Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Consolidated Press Holdings Limited (CPH), the private investment company of Mr. James Packer. At Arctic Capital, Stephen was responsible for deal sourcing, execution, monitoring and exiting investments in the Pan Asian region, as an operationally focused investor. Prior to Arctic Capital, Stephen was with TVG Capital Partners, an independent investment fund managing in excess of US$700M exclusively focused on Asian private equity in the telecom, media and technology sector. Stephen sits on the Board of Indostar Everstone.

Grant is a Senior Vice President in CDIB Capital's New York office. He is focused on sourcing, underwriting and portfolio management of investments across the "China-US" vertical. Prior to joining CDIB Capital in 2015, Grant was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Investment Banking Division based in Hong Kong covering the Consumer, Retail and Healthcare sectors. During his investment banking career, Grant executed over 30 cross-border M&A, debt and equity capital markets transactions representing US$50BN+ in deal value. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Grant was an Associate Director at UBS Investment Bank in Hong Kong. Grant began his career as an analyst in the JPMorgan Global Mergers & Acquisitions Group based in New York.

Grant received his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Business Honors Program. Grant is a CFA charterholder.

Morgan Chase & Co., she was at TVG Capital Partners in Hong Kong where she oversaw operations, compliance and fund administration.

Lisa Guo is an Assistant Vice President at CDIB Capital Group’s Legal Department based in Taipei. She is primarily responsible for managing and providing legal advice to CDIB Capital on private equity fund related matters including formation, management, and investments, and on other general investment and corporate matters. Her prior experience in Taiwan included positions at both a global insurance company and a telecommunication company, where she provided legal advice on a range of investments and various global strategic alliance deals. Prior to relocating to Taiwan, Lisa worked at Deloitte and MinterEllison Lawyers in Sydney, where she specialized in corporate tax advisory work and tax effective structuring for transactions including domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions, for a variety of clients, with a focus on financial services industry.

Lisa holds an LL.M. in Business Law from University of New South Wales and an LL.M. in Taxation from University of Sydney, as well as an LL.B. and a B.Comm. (majoring in Accounting & Finance) from University of Sydney. She was admitted as a solicitor by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia.

Before her current role, she had similar responsibilities in the Compliance Department of CDIB and the Legal Department of KGI Bank. Prior to joining KGI Bank, Yung-Chi had worked at the Banking and Capital Markets Department of Lee and Li, a major Taiwanese law firm, in the Legal Departments of ChinaTrust Commercial Bank, Citibank NA and China Development Asset Management Corporation in Taipei, and also as an Associate in Russin & Vecchi, also a major Taiwanese law firm.

Prior to Barclays, Kenny was a Senior Consultant at Deloitte & Touche’s Capital Markets Structured Products team, based in New York. During his MBA program, Kenny also worked as a Summer Associate in the Financial Sponsors and Leveraged Finance group at UBS Investment Bank in New York.

Prior to Ernst & Young, Charles was a Senior Associate in the Assurance Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he focused on auditing listed companies across different regions and industries. Charles was awarded consecutive Top Performer recognition at each level wherever in PwC or EY. Charles holds a Bachelor degree in Management from Shanghai Normal University.

Steven is an Associate in CDIB Capital’s New York office. Prior to CDIB Capital, Steven worked in the Equity Research Department of Lapides Asset Management, a US-based investment firm, where he focused on investment research of small/mid-cap US equities across multiple industries. During his MBA program, Steven also worked as a Summer Equity Research Analyst at the international and global funds of Arial Investments in New York. He has also held a position at the Asset Management department of JPMorgan Chase. Steven holds an MBA from New York University and a BS in Finance (graduated with honors) from St. John’s University. Steven is a CFA charterholder.

Nicole Sham is a Fund Accountant in CDIB Capital's Hong Kong Office. She works closely with our Finance and Middle Offices. Prior to joining she served as a Fund Accountant and Senior Fund Accountant respectively at the Private Equity Services division of Citigroup (Asia) and at HSBC in Hong Kong. Before that, Nicole served as an Audit Assistant at Mable Chan & Co.

Nicole holds a BBA from the City University of Hong Kong.
