Paul Yang
Paul is the Chairman and Co-Founder of CDIB Capital. He also serves as President and Chief Investment Officer of China Financial
Development Holding, responsible for the Group's principal investment activities.
Prior to CDFH, Paul served as Managing Director at Development Bank of
Singapore (“DBS”) where he was responsible for DBS Bank’s private equity business
across Asia. Prior to DBS, Paul was Managing Director of ICG Asia Ltd. Prior
to that, he was with the Principal Investment Area of Goldman, Sachs & Co. based in New York and Hong Kong. Paul also served at General Atlantic Partners
and at the Boston Consulting Group.
Paul is a Governor of the China Venture Capital Association (“CVCA”) and sits on a number of boards across the Group’s portfolio companies.
Paul holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and MS and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Lionel de Saint-Exupery
Lionel is the President and Co-Founder of CDIB Capital. Prior to CDIB Capital, Lionel was a senior banker in the investment banking division of Lehman Brothers based in New York and London. During his investment banking career, Lionel worked on more than US$45 billion of M&A and Capital Markets transactions. His experience spans across a broad range of industries such as Financial Services, Industrial, Consumer, Media, Technology and Business Services throughout North America, Europe and Asia. During those years, he advised leading private equity firms across a variety of leveraged buyout, trade sale and IPO transactions. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Lionel was a member of the Global Mergers & Acquisitions practice of Booz-Allen & Hamilton.
Lionel is a Director of Touch Media International, Tikona Digital Networks (Observer), Cube Capital, Ecofin Fund Management Limited and SE Properties Limited. He also serves on the advisory boards of a number of private equity funds including the Asian Infrastructure Fund, Carlyle Asia Partners, Tenaya Capital, CX Partners and Riverwood Capital.
Lionel holds an MBA with Distinctions from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and a BS in Finance & Entrepreneurship from France’s HEC School of Management.
Victor Gao
Victor Gao is a Managing Director of CDIB Capital, with primary responsibility for the group’s China operations. Prior to CDIB Capital, Victor was a Managing Director and Head of China for Greater Pacific Capital, a leading private equity firm focused on China and India. Prior to Greater Pacific Capital, he was a Managing Director of Sun Capital Partners (a global turnaround firm with approximately US$45 billion of AUM) and Chairman and President of its China business. Victor also served as Chairman and President of Eaton (China) Investment Corp. for Eaton Corporation, a diversified Fortune 500 industrial group. In addition, he had responsibility for Eaton’s M&A operations in the Asia Pacific region. He also worked as Treasurer of the Chinese affiliates of General Motors and Delphi. Throughout the years, Victor has been involved in numerous acquisitions, joint-ventures and complex restructuring projects in China. He also served as CFO and board member of UTStarcom China, a NASDAQ-listed telecoms company. Victor started his career in the Chinese central government, as project manager at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in Beijing.
Victor holds an MBA and an MS in Engineering from the University of Maryland, and a BEng from Hei Long Jiang Institute of Commerce.
Justin Busarakamwong
Justin is a Senior Vice President at CDIB Capital, where he is responsible for credit investments across the Asia Pacific region, ranging from senior debt through to subordinated equity-linked instruments. Justin previously served as Executive Director at StormHarbour Securities in Hong Kong, focusing on the structuring, execution and distribution of private debt and structured lending transactions. Prior to StormHarbour, Justin was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in its Leveraged Finance team in Hong Kong, where he had responsibilities for originating and structuring its leveraged loan products, and its loan distribution effort for Asia, as well as building up its regional lending and underwriting capabilities. Before Morgan Stanley, he was a Vice President in the Leveraged and Acquisition Finance team at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong. Justin has also worked at Merrill Lynch in its Mergers and Acquisitions team in London, and started his career at JPMorgan Chase in its syndicated finance business in New York and Hong Kong.
Justin holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and a BA in Economics from Cornell University.
Stephen Choi
Stephen is a Senior Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where he is responsible for private equity fund investments and direct/co-investments in private companies in Australia, India, and South East Asia. Prior CDIB Capital, Stephen was with Arctic Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Press Holdings Limited (CPH), the private investment company of Mr. James Packer. At Arctic Capital, Stephen was responsible for deal sourcing, execution, monitoring and exiting investments in the Pan Asian region, as an operationally focused investor. Prior to Arctic Capital, Stephen was with TVG Capital Partners, an independent investment fund managing in excess of US$700 million exclusively focused on Asian private equity in the telecom, media and technology sector.
Stephen holds a Master in Applied Finance and BCom from Macquarie University, Australia
Neville Chan
Neville is a Senior Vice President of CDIB Capital with overall responsibilities for the Group's finance, compliance, operations and administration functions. Prior to CDIB Capital, Neville served as the Chief Financial Officer of Apollo Global Real Estate, Asia Pacific, and before that the Chief Financial Officer/Controller of Carlyle Asia Leveraged Finance. Before joining Carlyle, Neville was the Financial Controller of Citadel Asset Management and of KBC Financial Products, based in Hong Kong. He started his career in the Financial Services Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
Neville holds an MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA).
Pamela Fang
Pamela is a Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where she primarily focuses on private equity investment activities in Greater China. In addition to her investment responsibilities, she is also the Head of Investor Relations for CDFH, the parent company of CDIB Capital. Pamela brings to CDIB over ten years of global transactional experience both as an investor and as an investment banker. Prior to CDIB, Pamela was an investment lead for GE Capital’s multi-strategy private equity fund, where she led deal origination and underwriting for venture capital, growth equity, leveraged buyouts and restructuring investments. She also played an active role on the boards of a number of GE Capital’s portfolio companies. In addition to her broad PE investing experience, Pamela has extensive experience in business development, mergers and acquisitions, debt structuring and sales working at Morgan Stanley and Barclays Capital.
Pamela holds an MBA from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania.
Shirley Liu
Shirley is a Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where she focuses on its investment activities across Asia. Prior to CDIB Capital, Shirley worked for the investment banking department of Anglo Chinese Corporate Finance where she was involved in a number of transactions including IPOs as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. Prior to that, she worked in the audit practice of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Hong Kong.
Shirley holds a BBA (first class honours) in Accountancy from the City University of Hong Kong and is an alumnus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She is also a qualified accountant and a member of ACCA (Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants - UK).
Jackie Lau
Jackie is a Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where she is responsible for managing its back office operations. Jackie previously worked as an Administrator at FTN Financial Asia, providing full administrative support to the office. Prior to that, she worked as Associate Director and Head of Administration at KBC Financial Products, where she oversaw their Administration and Human Resources functions. Prior to KBC, Jackie worked as a Human Resources Administrator and Executive Secretary at General Electric International, and before that as Executive Secretary to the Managing Director at Everite Industries.
Jackie holds a Master of Management degree in Human Resources from Macquarie University.
Aniruddha Nagendra
Ani is an Assistant Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where he focuses on pan-Asian investment opportunities. Prior to joining CDIB Capital, Ani worked in the Investment Banking Division of J.P. Morgan in New York, focusing on leveraged debt financing for a variety of transactions including acquisitions and leveraged buy-outs. He has also held positions with Merrill Lynch and Development Principles Group, a China-focused middle-market private equity fund. Ani sits on the advisory board of Samara Capital.
Ani holds a BA in Economics from Northwestern University
Chris Teoh
Chris is an Assistant Vice President at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office where he focuses on pan-Asian private equity investments. Before joining CDIB Capital, Chris was an Investment Professional at the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) in the Beijing and Ulaanbaatar offices. Previously, he worked in the Investment Banking team of ABN Amro in Hong Kong. Before ABN Amro, Chris worked as a Senior Associate in the Corporate Finance division of Ernst & Young Hua Ming in Beijing, China. He commenced his career at Batey/Red Cell in its business management team in both Sydney and Beijing.
Chris is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Applied Finance from the Macquarie University/Tsinghua University. He graduated with a BA in Science majoring in Information Systems from the University of Melbourne.
Leo Geng
Leo is an Associate at CDIB Capital focusing on private equity investments in Greater China. Prior to CDIB Capital, Leo worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions department of E. J. McKay & Co., Inc. in Shanghai, where he was involved in a number of cross-border transactions. Prior to that, he worked in the Audit and Assurance department of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Shanghai where he participated in several IPO projects in China.
Leo graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with “honours” with a BBA of Material Science & Engineering.
Marco Tsui
Marco is an Associate at CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where he focuses on investment opportunities across Asia. Prior to joining CDIB Capital, Marco was a Senior Associate in the assurance practice of BDO based in Los Angeles, overseeing audit engagements across multiple subsectors.
Marco holds an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Kiwi Chun
Kiwi is an Associate in CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, where she is responsible for the middle office function and assists the investment team in strategic planning, portfolio management and reporting. Kiwi previously worked as Assistant Manager for TVG Capital Partners, with responsibility for fund administration and financial reporting. Prior to that, Kiwi served as a Senior Fund Accountant for HSBC Alternative Fund Services where she served major hedge fund and private equity fund clients.
Kiwi holds a BBA of Accountancy from the City University of Hong Kong. She has passed all the requisite qualification examinations for the HKICPA (Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants).
Steven Liu
Steven is an Associate in CDIB Capital’s Hong Kong office, as part of the company’s private equity investment team in Greater China. Prior to joining CDIB Capital, Steven completed his Master’s Degree in International Banking and Finance from the University of Durham. During his postgraduate studies, Steven has engaged in an internship program with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Previously, Steven was a Financing Associate for the Fujian Sunshine Group, where he participated in various acquisitions with primary responsibility for sourcing, due diligence and risk assessment.
Steven holds an MSc degree in International Banking and Finance from the University of Durham, and a BS in Economics from Xiamen University.
Candy Lu
Candy is the Office Manager of CDIB Capital’s China operations, where she is responsible for its finance, operations and administration functions. Candy previously served as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director at The Jordan Company and as Administrator at the China Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. Prior to that, she worked as Office Manager and Assistant to the Managing Director at Sun Capital Partners in China, where she oversaw the setting up of its back office operations. Prior to these roles, she worked in various office administration positions, most recently at the Shanghai representative office of 3i Asia Pacific.
Candy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree at Shanghai Teachers University, majoring in English.
